Hi Guys, I was seriously considering ordering this system and wanted to hear form someone who already owned them. I am excited that I have finally almost decided on what to buy:rolleyes:. I have looked at everything from HTD, axiom, aperion, and av123. I think the SVS, is what I am looking for. So far there customer service has been awesome and I haven't even purchased anything.

Anyway, let me know what you think, your opinion is appreciated good or bad!

I've heard the SBS-01 speakers and they're great speakers for the money, just not my cup of tea. Everyone has different taste is speaker sound so only you will know if you like them.

I have heard the SBS (not the SCS but the SCS just adds one more mid range driver over the SBS) and I have also heard the MTS. The MTS in my opinion where just awe-inspring compared to the SBS. Don't get me wrong the SBS was a fine speaker, I just felt it wasn't quite up to par as other quality bookshleves. The sub on the other hand is first rate. If you can swing it, i would go with the MTS series (but man are those costly) otherwise I would look at other brands. I have also tested some AV123's bookshelves and wasnt impressed with those either (even though I own the Strata Minis (which are incredible). My view on the SBS may have been hindered by the room they were in though, but I went to a GTG in TX and we tested all kinds of bookshelves and the AV123's rated very poor among the 10 or so people there. I would look at Paradigm Studio bookshelves which rated one of the best by those whose tested them at the GTG.

Just hooked up my SBS's last night I know you are asking about the SCS but havnt had the chance to demo those. For a newbie into the HT market I am amazed by these. The sub is amazing by the way. I also havnt had the chance to listen to MTS and other higher end speakers. But again I'm def happy with what I have so my vote would be SVS.

Thanks Everyone! Great responses so far. Understandably everyone has their own opinion. I guess I was searching for someone to push me over the edge.

Anyway, I went ahead and ordered the SCS-01. I guess I will see for myself.

Thanks,
Lane

Actually, I will let them know. There is no link to this forum on their site, although they list several other forums. We have got to change that!

I too am thinking of ordering the SCS and the same receiver as you how does the speakers, VSX01TXH, and sub all sound together?

I did hear it and review it after SOTU, last fall. I thought it was good value for money. The SVS use good middle of the road Scandinavian drivers. I head it with the MTS 01 If it is rock music you want to play then these speakers are probably not for you. If it is classical, jazz, folk, then they will fit the bill nicely. They have a nice slightly reticent balance. Not at all shouty or forward. They could in fact pass for a set of British speakers in that price range.

If I were spending that kind of money for speakers, they would be pretty high up my list.

I love my set up, the 01TXH is great. It was nice and simple to hook up and does great with the svs speakers. The sub is crazy. I cant even imagine the ultra or plus. My bed shakes and the kitchen needs some sound proofing. I watched the dark knight and was blown away at what a sub does to a movie. I bought these after the reviews on here and I'm glad I found this site. SVS Rocks. Only negitive I would have is the speakers are fine for music for me but the sub is a little let down on music. But that was when I listen to just music not music in a movie. Explosions and gunfights are were its at with this sub.
On a side note- Just got Killzone 2 and this is by far the best sounding game I have ever played. I am getting alot of use out of my system right now.

I have the PDP-5020FD Kuro and want to get a receiver that plays nice with the video and the 01TXH is about the top of my budget due to purchase of tv, receiver, speakers and bluray. How do you like the THX? Does it make a difference?

What are you missing? is it to boomy not "tight" enough etc...

I'm by no means a pro at this so I'm ganna go with its not "tight" bass. When I play something I know has some deep base I was surprised it wasnt as good as say the system in my truck. I know that's a bad refrence but thats what i first thought of. I'm sure a pro on here can jump in and explain better. I still think its great and listen to alot of music with it. But I'm not as picky as some on here might be.

Again not a pro so when I use THX I do here a slight dif but nothing to bust the bank and go buy only THX stuff. I think the best I have heard is when watching hockey. I felt I was in the stands. Same with any sport probably. But yea I heard the F bomb a few times on reg tv so thought that was a little bonus. With me this was way over budget but i thought it will be with me for awhile so" go big or stay home"
