Do you use upmixing for stereo music or are you strictly a “2ch purist”?

Having moved from what once was predominantly AM radio to FM, transistor radios with a mono earbud.

Memories!
The earphone was simply a way to privately listen to the game, and was a "toss in" accessory with most every radio. I suspect there were earphones where the designer attempted to give it some sound quality and they may have done a decent job! However, in my youthful awareness of that period, you had the earphone to listen to voice and needed to graduate to stereo headphones for any expectation of enjoying sound quality!

I think about this often. Having moved from what once was predominantly AM radio to FM, transistor radios with a mono earbud, 78 rpm records still around, 45's on a mono record player and then somewhat rather suddenly graduating to CD's and all the worst of the audible noise just. . . . gone.

As a DIY'r, my next logical step should be surround sound. More reason to build on to my system. But I stop at 2 channel and instead, focus on other small 2 channel, near field novelties. I have access to multichannel. That's what most of my friends have. Still it's always great to get back home to my own style of listening.

I love the closing idea of "listening to my own style". Style is a great attribute to have in your life.
I'm not talking fashion sense, but rather a sense of personal style in how you live your life. That's style in how you work and style in how you play. The nice thing is you can completely define and live your own.

There was the old watermelon smashing comedian named "Gallagher" (sp?) back in the day.
He did an entire set of routines about "style".
Here's a brief clip. Not the best one perhaps, but I could find it.
