Do LCDs and plasmas always have processor boxes?

My friend has a pioneer plasma, about a 43 inch, its an 05 model i think, well his had a processor box. but my question is do new plasmas and LCD TVs have processor boxes this year? Specifically, does sony have em? or do they put everything into the actual LCD TV itself? my dad is probably gonna buy the sony 32s2010, when it is released this month. one more question. are the speakers built into the sony 32s2010 unit itself or are they separate parts?

The media receiver unit is actually uncommon. Most plasma displays incorporate the tuner and inputs into the panel itself. Not familiar with the Sony you reference.
