Do F/R Speakers get the same signals?

I thinking of buying a USED 5.1 channel receiver that I want to use strickly for home stereo, home audio recording, and NOT for TV. I want to power speakers in another room.

Do the front speakers and the rear speakers of a 5.1 Home Theater Receiver receive the same stereo audio signals? If YES, then I can run wires to a different room and add sound to that room, right?

Of course I won't have a subwoofer there.

Also, If I run a 5.1 channel receiver without a sub woofer, will I still get adequate bass from large speakers?

If you run 5 channel stereo they will get the same sound. If its a Dolby digital or DTS track and you have it in native DD or DTS mode, they will get different sounds.

The bass will depend on the loudspeakers, power of receiver, and the positioning of the loudspeakers.

I don't know if 1 receiver would do this task well. You might be better of getting 2 stereo receivers and hooking them up together using analog or digital cables, so they have the same signal. Or, just have 2 separate stereos all together. You can buy in house music systems, but they might get pricey

Also, rear channels will need to be boosted up do have the same output as the main channels.

You can do it with one receiver that has a zone 2 capability, which most do these days. You can run the same or a separate source in a second room, and still have at least 5.1 in the main room. Some receviers can power the second room internally, but it is often better to pick up a small amp to power the speakers in the second room.
