DIY cables HELP!

so I'm Bord and decided to build my own interconnects for video and audio..ive search the forum and found alot of information but sometimes the links and what not wouldn't work, there were some holes in questions an answers.. so heres a couple of questions
1) any information or links on this subject
2) best cable, cheapest, most used?
3) termination, whats good whats not?
4) general knowledge, setup and person pictures of DIY cables

There are a lot of pictures and links. If you are afraid of soldering then you need to practice because soldering is really the way to go to make the best cables. Cheers!
