DIY 2 Way Speaker Kits

There are a lot of solid DIY designs out there and would strongly suggest you consider one of them. I like Madisound folks, but it is not the same to get a good crossover design as it it to have someone sweat details over the entire design. Also, if you like planar tweters, you are likely to be disappointed in a design with a dome tweeter.

This said, from where you current stand, I get that you want to lose the subwoofer, but am left wondering what kinds of music you like and what other goals you might have (budget, aesthetics, etc.). If you are handy, you might want to consider some middle ground. I have not heard these, but just food for thought.

If I recall correctly, there are also a number of designs on speakerdesignworks.com that use the Fountek ribbon from your current speakers. Could be a good way to bridge from what you have to something that better suits your plans...
