Seriously, I have no life.
SWEET! I just got them to switch me back to the choice package for $43.99 for a year and they gave me a $150 credit!! Of course I'll have to remember to call them back after a year to re-do my deal, but who knows, next year I might be making more money and not care so much about my DirecTV bill.

Thanks for the head's up.
Pretty cool, eh? I just had my way with ATT today, too. I was paying way too much for voice calling only and since my 9 year old Nokia had some flaky buttons, I figured it was time to retire it (plus, it doesn't work as well with the most recent system changes). I don't want to pay $100/month for a phone and I don't care what it does. The usual ATT packages aren't a very good value but I got an iPhone 3GS ($50), 2GB of data/month, I get to keep my 1500 roll-over minutes and I still get them with the new plan. The best part- I'll be paying $5 less per month than I was.

My wife talked me into U-Verse, at first....meh.....now I'm happy with it, wouldn't go back to direct tv.....I find U-verse has a crisper picture (I hear a new thread coming), but we all know that's subjective. I did hook it up with Monster Cables so I know the picture is superior to what I had before, it must be that special copper Monster uses (oxygen free, it doesn't rust), they get it from a secret copper mine somewhere in Haiti that Noel Lee bought with some beads and fake US passports.

Direct Tv now have a 24/7 on customer support so you don't need to worry about when your having trouble with your Direct TV.
24/7 customer support that sucks isn't really a benefit

The drawback to DirecTV for me is the lack of G4. I'm going through Ninja Warrior withdrawls. Plus Comic-con is going on right now and the anime series of Iron Man and Wolverine are coming out!!! Dammit!!!

MazerSteven is too busy going to DisneyWorld every other day with his kids during summer break (according to his Facebook page)

My folks have Dish, I have Directv and yu couldn't pay me to ever switch to Dish. They first hooked up my folks HD box via S-video cable and when I called them about it, they insisted that HD could be transmitted via S-video and had installed thousands of customers who were quite satisfied with the HD service hooked up with S-video. So I insisted that they go back out to my folks house and install it with HDMI or component. So the next day my dad calls me and says they sent the same stupid tech out who was insistant that HD could go over S-Video then the tech starts to argue with me and since he has done this for years, his experience trumps my knowledge (guess me setting up hundreds of HT systems for clients as a hobby doesnt count for shyat.) So that weekend I have to travel 100 miles to my folks house with an HDMI cable and get their HD service set up (yes this started with ripping out the still installed S-Video cable.

I have Directv and their insurance plan so anytime I have had an issue I either get a free replacement or a tech at my house within one day. I have found the Directv CS people very friendly and have always done their best to resolve any issues I have had.
