Maybe they'll re-release the cut with lyrics that show greater sensitivity. They can replace fagot with douchebag.

The lyrics in this song is a rant he overheard at a record store about a guy complaining about MTV and how these guys didn't work etc. Thats not even Knoffler's stance. *shrugs*

But oh RAP is alive and well with HO, booty and sex and this is a far greater detremental influence on the kids these days than the word faggot. Look at all the teen pregnancies and underage sex that is going based om our sex driven culture. I guess it takes one AHOLE to ruin for everyone. I would like the word faggot be repalced by douchebag faggot to hit home what kind of an AHOLE this guy really is.

Perhaps they did not like the line..."banging on the drums like a chimpanzee"...or something like that...

Yes, I listen to the radio. :) I'm assuming the complainant is a relatively young person who took offence and has no appreciation for what the song is actually saying. And, I know you're joking about the song just coming out in Canada. I still remember back in '78, when I was 13 and just starting to appreciate music. "Sultans Of Swing" came out that year and I loved it. I've been a fan ever since and I regret that I never had a chance to see them play.

I think it's absolutely ridiculous that they picked on "Money For Nothing". I guess it's because the offending word is clearly intelligible on the recording. Whereas, lots of rap "music", although laden with words that would offend just about every demographic on the planet, is for the most part, unintelligible (to me at least).

Man, don't you know anything about Canada? :D Off course "he" just came out :D and because he feels offended, the rest of us have to live by the "little faggot's" rule .

I was disappointed when I bought the "Money For Nothing" cd about 10 years ago, and it had the same editing, so this is nothing new to me. I do have a vhs recording of the original video from vh1 that I may have to capture on the computer when I get a decent usb capture card. Censorship is rampant an abundant, well......................... I won't go any further!
