So I'm out at Ebay and AudiogoN hunting for some in-ceiling / in-wall speakers for putting in places like the kitchen and patio. Obviously, imaging isn't the most important factor here; and in fact I'd like to avoid setting up a "sweet spot". I'm after as good a sound as evenly throughout the area as possible.
So I'm looking for opinions on using dipole surrounds for filling the room with music. My thinking is that, since they deliberately project toward walls, they will create a more even sound.
OTOH they might sound awful. Since I am still using direct speakers for my own surround system, I don't have any to experiment with.
Input?
