I got the cables, and my first dvd-a. Queen "The Game" The dvd-a track is cleaner. But, I prefer the DTS track on this disc.
I tried a regular concert dvd, and it depends on the dvd. My Godsmack dvd sounds better in DTS with digital-out. My Jack Johnson dvd sounds best with 2-channel selected in the player menu, using m/c in on the receiver. Those are the only two I checked.
So, it's nice to have the cables. The Jack Johnson dvd didn't sound that great in DTS, so I'm glad I got the cables. I am disappointed in my first dvd-a, but the DTS track rocks.
So, it seems to depend on the disc, and the system I'm sure. I don't plan to spend too much on dvd-a now. I'm gonna wait it out, use what I have, and see what happens.
I do wish I had my last three years experience. I would've purchased Denon. They seem to have a slight edge in the BM department at the moment. (players, and receivers)(higher-end) Don't ask. That's all I can say about that at the moment.
