Bummer. So I guess it's the Emotiva then. Do the DCX's have remote turn on? That way I could learn their power functions with my Harmony remote.

No remote. If that bothers you, you can either use a relay on the 12V trigger ouput of the reciever and connected to the Behringer, or just leave it on. It draws only a few watts, and there is no real reason that I know of to turn it off.

Cool. I'll just have to make sure that whatever receiver I purchase has enough trigger outputs to be able to turn on all 3 of the DCX's. Would I be able to turn on the Emotiva amp the same way?

Also, I remember coming across a thread here somewhere that had links to a deal on Belkin power conditioners. Do you recommend one of these as well? If so, which one? I think this was the thread:

Check the Emotiva specs. It probably has a 12V trigger input since it is home audio. As for the DCX, actually, just plug a power strip (with a cheater plug -- but remember to tie the cheater plug ground tab to a real ground for safety) into the back of your receiver's switched power plugs and then plug the 3 DCX units to the powerstrip. I assume your reciever has a switched power 120VAC power outlet on the back of it.

I"m not familar with power conditioners. I don't use them. However, if I did, i would probably look for a no-nonsense pro application unit.

I have the belkin unit pf60, and am pretty happy with it. While I do not see or hear huge quality differences. It protects my system well and I like to see the power flow to my equipment especially because I live in an old building. I would not expect to much of a quality change when using any conditioner, thats just my experience though.

Hey Chris,

I just bought a Yamaha 661. So I will be looking to purchase the Behringer stuff you recommended pretty soon. I think I will go with the Emotiva amp because to do 7.1 I would need 4 A500's. This seems the more economical way to go. Plus like you said, I'll only have 1 amp to turn on.

So, if I'm not mistaken, my hook-ups will be going:

1. Yamaha 661

to

2. DCX's

to

3. Emotiva amp

to

4. Speakers

Is this correct? Also, how many of each of those connectors and attenuators will I need?
