Difference between a 8ft and 25ft Subwoofer cable.

Ok, when I bought my sub, I wasn't sure where I was going to place it, so, to make sure I wouldn't have to compromise, I bought the longest sub cable I could buy (25ft). Anyways, I found that the best bass comes from just a few feet away from my receiver, near a wall.

Now the question is, should I buy a smaller cable? I think 5 feet is the actual distance but 8ft cable is available where I bought my 25 footer. Am I going to notice a difference in sound between the 2 cables of the same brand but different length?

General rule is to use the shortest cable that will do the job (allowing for slack if needed), but it shouldn't make a considerable difference.

seventeen feet and no difference in sound.

You're better off having too much and not need it than to not have enough and need it.

Sub Cable length

I have 1 sub about 12 feet from AVR. I may add another sub which will probably be about 22-24 feet from AVR. Will the different cable lengths make a difference? Or should I by 2 25 foot cables and hide the excess? Thx

I would think that it would be better to have both cables be the same length. That way you don't potentially have one cable with more resistance than the other. But I'm sure someone with more experience can give you a more definite answer.

Absolutely no big deal having those two cables at different lengths.

Unless one cable is obscenely longer than the other (I don't think you are putting these subs a warehouse) so it shouldn't make a difference to human ears.:D
