Did you know that most Americans still own a VCR?

My parents still have one hooked up to the tv in their bedroom, but I don't think they ever used it. I had one hooked up to my 3rd system several years ago, but when I realized I'd never use it, I decided to craigslist it and I haven't looked back since. But I'm not surprised at all how many people still own a vcr, just like how many people still own a tube tv.

Don't remind me... I deal with VCR's all too often. As a customer A/V installer I do not always deal with the big fancy modern systems. Sometimes it's the sweet old lady that can't figure out how to record her favorite soap opera on her VCR because Comcast has forced her to install a cable box. Then I get to deal with questions like, "Why to my recorded shows look so terrible on my HDTV?". Ugh...

I still have over 400 movies on VHS, and use my VCR often. It's a VHS/DVD player/recorder combo but the DVD burner is kaput. I've got several early Alfred Hitchcock silent films on VHS which as yet haven't found on DVD or Blu-ray. I'm finding the accessories (tape rewinders, cleaning tapes) are usually junk and fail quickly.

No VCR for me. But I do use the old tapes to fill in the space behind the Blu Rays my cabinet.

I still have a VCR hooked up to my bedroom system. I haven't used it in years. I have a box of tapes somewhere, can't remember what's in it other than some heavy metal band videos from the 80s and one or two adult films.
