Dev run 12db hot?

This video says to run the Dev at +12db at 20hz at Q .70

Won't that bottom out the sub in the Dev like crazy? I don't want to blow my $900 subwoofer. Please explain how this is possible! I would think that would smoke the sub!

Who is he to bother taking advice from? I looked at the particular segment briefly but is that his particular in room measurement and how does that relate to you? Or ? I'd probably ask @JasonGSG

That would depend on the level wouldn't it? As well as amp capabilities....but sure you could damage it. Especially you
