Just a couple of thoughts guys but what about the hk3480(120w) also has pre-outs is stereo, if your not in need of a tuner just get a nadc320bee which you can get at bargain prices all over right now. But look at the yammie and give the hk a listen aswell.

Thanks to everybody for all the input! I'll give those Yamahas a look when I get the chance.

Seriously, I have no life.
The Pioneer is rated @1k. If you look, it states it has 220W total power. 220/7 = 31.43WPC. That will not cut it for HT, even though it will be used for 2-channel. Not a wise purchase.
No. That is a UL rated total power that is arrived differently. I tried to find the link on the home page so I don't have to rely on memory:( but I am pretty sure it is two of the main channels at full power plus the rest at 1/8th power.

I wouldn't put much stock in that pioneer, for power.:D It has a good value, but it is what it was meant to me, a cheap receiver. Tiny caps, IC output devices, and a modest power supply, no I am being too modest.:D

take the plunge

I just purchased a pair of Ascend Sierra-1 speakers. Now on to the receiver and CD player. This system is for music listening only. This is my first foray ever into any kind of noteworthy sound system.

The Denon DRA-697CI is available at a local audio store for 540.00. Any reason not to buy it?
