Denon New Blu-ray Offerings Almost Affordable

I wouldn't be to sure about these statements. Comparing speaker cables to complex electronics doesn't even qualify as an apples to orange comparison. The same was said about CD players many years ago but the advantages of better CD players is quite apparant with carefully setup listening tests not to mention easily measurable as well.

Now that everything is being transmitted digitally, this may level the playing field a bit but HDMI transmisison thru products is NOT flawless. I have a brand new $40k HDMI Audio Analyzer at my disposal now and you can be assured I will be comparing the $4k Denon to the $500 Oppo blu ray player to determine if there are in fact differences that are measurable.
HI! Let me introduce myself, I'm from Argentina, so my English is not so cool...:)

This week I'll be ordering one of both OPPO BDP-83 or Denon BDP-2010ci. I've read the review of the oppo, but in the case of the denon I've found only news and details of 1º contacts...

Which in your opinion is better (I'lll use it as CD- BR - MKVS - AVCHD MP3 player; not SACD nor DVD A)?????

Thanks from down here:D:D:D

Can't wait to see the reviews on the oppo vs. denon. I would also really like to see the PS3 compared to a bunch of diff. players.

Thank you for your advice... If someone has an opinion about denon's 2010 I'm still interested....

I like the Oppo too but will wait for the comparison to the new Denons. By the way, THe Denons are supposed to be released this month. So far, no sign of them on major etail sites.

Just forget Denon all together (any models), and just concentrate in this
Reference-Quality Audio/Video Universal Blu-Ray Disc Player for the deal of the century.
There is nothing else that evenly or remotely approaches it.
It is in a Master category by itself with a tremendous value attached to it, period.
Just get it and smell the roses. :)

Are the remote codes for the oppo available, cause I know with my old upconverting oppo I wasn't able to program my universal remote.

Hi Leo,

The Denon DBP-2010ci Blu-ray player (not BDP-2010 by the way ;)), is so new that there is no reviews yet. But it is not in the same league as the Oppo BDP-83 Universal Blu-ray player, because it is not a Universal player, and it weights less than the Oppo and also cost $200 more than the Oppo.
It retails for $699.00 usd.

Like I said, might is well just forget about it.

Denon DVD-A1UDCI **New** World's First 'Universal' Blu-ray Disc Player = $4,500.00 !!

The only player that can compare to the Oppo BDP-83 Universal Blu-ray Disc Player is the Denon DVD-A1UDCI, with a MSRP of $4,500.00
That is 9 times the price of the Oppo BDP-83.
At over 40 pounds though, it is very well built. It better be, for that kind of dough!

Very nice, but thanks, I'll pass. :D

Denon2010..

I simply love this player. Its awesome on CD, on DVD and BD.
Its three players in one box.
I have one SACD, Pinkfloyd... I dont give a CRAP about SACD or DVDaudio.
Denon2010 looks WAY hotter than the troll named Oppo:eek:.
And it sounds way better as well.

Its solid, its nice, it doesnt have a flaky disc tray...
And the green mainboard doesnt show everytime you change the disc... :D

Oppo bdp-83v will not be available in Europe

For all the people flaming all other players than Oppo I want to say that for Europeans the Oppo is not an option (unless you want to import a US unit, fix its region code voiding your warranty etc).

I was told directly by Oppo sales that they have canceled all plans for a European version....

So it is still very interesting to read about alternatives from other vendors even if they do not offer all the bells and whistles of the oppo...
