Denon/Marantz AVRs and Roon

So I have seen 2 reports on the roon forums that the avr-xX800h AVRs are getting firmware updates that make them roon ready.

Anyone experiencing this? I've been waiting for this for a long time and have been ready to upgrade for a long time and want to be sure before I pull the trigger.

Are you only gonna have 1 end point or will you be using multiples?

I have multiple rooms/endpoints with speakers in the ceiling. I use blue sound nodes for this. But I have a larger dedicated media room with a 7.2 setup and I really want roon readiness.

The 3800 is roon ready but I haven't confirmed any updates for the other models yet. I use WiiM for all my endpoints. I'll check my Denon 4800 later today to see if anything has changed.

Thank you! The 4800 is one of the AVRs I'm considering.

I still have to use Chromecast with the 4800 FWIW, doesn't meant its not coming but as of now that is the only way I can use it (some say that airplay works) but I'm content with using WiiM as my endpoints.if you don't need Auro 3d, the 3800 should work for you.

The Denon X3800H does have Auro-3D support though, it's the first time they've brought Auro-3D to the X3x00H series.

Did you mean “roon capable”? Instead of “roon ready” the latter implies Roon’s RAAT can control the device.

...and that's the key. I want that level of control from the roon app for the AVR. On the roon community forums, the high end Marantz devices are confirmed to now be roon ready. Also appears that couple of folks indicated that the current generation of denon avrs are receiving firmware updates to make them roon ready.

I just want to confirm before I pull the trigger...plus I am debating between the 4800 and the 6800....

They snucked that in on me. Looks like the 3800 for certain. Good for Denon. They do not have the 4800 yet listed only the 3800.

This will likely further annoy the Anthem’s AVP90 community. Promised years (years) ago and still not reality.

I have been saving my pennies waiting to see who does Roon Readiness first: Denon or Anthem. Looks like I am buying a new Denon in the next week.

Prob the AVR-X4800H, but may go withe the 6800 if the DAC improvement is audible.
