HK rates old school like Marantz receivers and they sound good. They are reliable watt rating rating only clear watts. But since they outsource like many other electronic there quality has gone down. But I've had my HK for a while no problems. They have some of the best support. I like Denon also but I prefer the sound of HK. For my price range my $0.02

HK and Bose are both great...
I have a HK AVR340 and a Bose Acoustimass 16 system and they are both outstanding... Whoever tells you differently is just biased.
My set up is in a huge basement and let me tell you that the system rocks!!!
So unless you have actually set up and tried the system in your own house then you shouldn't judge...
So many people here give advice after reading some BS article or review.
You'll always have people who have experienced bad things with all different kinds of brands.
The HK receiver look wise blows every other receiver on the market hands down. The sound that comes out of this thing is incredible. So when going with a 7300 or a 635 then you can be sure it will be even better.
As for the Bose system it sounds great!!!! Yes of course you can get many other systems that are more powerful then this and probably cheaper. But who the hell wants huge speakers all over the place in wood!!!
The look of the Bose is awesome. Tiny and super powerful and crystal clear sound. I am a huge music person and huge movie person and have over 10000 songs and 1000 dvd's and i can truly confirm that my HK AVR340 with My Bose Acoustimass 16 speaker system and my Panasonic th50px60u plasma all work flawlessly together.
Now everyone has different ears and tastes but this is just my 2cents...
And please do not listen to all the Bose and Hk bashers.
youyou,

You're becoming a Bose fanboy, and may be the only one at this site.

If you're happy with your system, more power to you. Just know there are better choices for your hard earned dollar than Bose - and realize why.

What do you do for bass below 50Hz (actually, 80Hz for that matter)? Three 5.25" woofers acting as a so called "subwoofer" (Bose has to call it a Bass Module because it doesn't qualify) will not do justice to a movie such as U571 or WOTW. What about all the frequencies you miss out trying to produce the full audio spectrum with multiple 2 1/2" "Twiddlers"? It's a fact Bose has eq'd the hell out of their Bass Module to reproduce a curve to take advantage of the lack of Hz their systems produce.

If one must go with 2.5" full range drivers, I'd say the $698 HSU Ventriloquist VTF-2 setup would be a better WAF value. At least in the center channel, you've got a two way system with dual 4x6 woofers and a separate 2.5" mid/high driver.

To answer your HDMI question... the answer is yes. You can connect your TV via HDMI to the DVD player and the DVD player to the receiver via optical or digital RCA.
Hi 3x,
Thanks for the information... now I'm down to two manufacturers!
The DENON 3805 or the YAMAHA 2500????
I forget the HDMI on 2600...............................
Denon 3805 costs 4000 DHS here in dubai while the Yamaha costs 2400 DHS.
by the way, the convertion of Dirhams to USD is 1 DHS = 3.65 USD.
Do I have to pay the extra bucks for the Denon? is it worthy to pay more for the DENON or take the yamaha instead?
I'm using my system for 65% in music and 35% for movies.
I'll go and buy the unit in three days and still I don't have a final choice.
thank you for your future suggestions..........GOD BLESS.

For the price difference, go with the Yamaha 2500.

You're right mate! for the price difference,... it should be yamaha. But,.. I've read on some forum that the yamaha has a problem with heat dissipation... I mean the unit is heating more than it should be. Some 2500 owners use external fan to solve the problem. I'm afraid the heat from the unit may affect the performance and damage some components in the future. For the 3805, so far I haven't read any bad comments about the unit. I don't want to buy a unit today in which I will regret it in the future and buy another one! I want to buy the unit now and use it for at least 7 - 10 years.
It's so hard to find AVR here in Dubai,... although the market here is huge, the units available here is limited. Only these two (AVR 3805 and RX-V2005) fits my taste....
By the way,... How important is the THX???
thanks for your advice mate... take care and GOD bless everybody.

I'd rather have an HK than a Bose. At least HK will replace anything that doesn't work right. Sometimes even after the warranty is up. And if your replacement doesn't work, you may end up with a free upgrade. Add to that, that they sound much better to begin with and it's a no brainer. By the way, many 50 wpc HK's measure at 75 wpc or more. While some other mfg's 100 wpc receivers measure at 85 or 80 wpc. Yeah, I'd say that an HK watt is better than some. Only because they underrate theirs while others are overrating.

Bose? Nevermind.
Hi GMIKE,...
Just want to ask you about your Yamaha RX-V2500,... how is the power and performance mate? is it really 130W? is the unit overheating? I want to buy the same model in 2 days,... It would be very helpful if you could give me some more ideas and tips about the reciever. thanks a lot. GOD bless.
