Denon DVD 5900 setup problem

I just bought a new DVD 5900 and want to use it with a stereo.
At the "Audio Setup" menu, I select "Audio Channel".
"Multi-Channel" is the only allowed option, with the "2 Channel" visible,
but grayed out.

What can I do to use the "2 Channel" option?

How do you have it hooked up to the receiver? Digital cable, L/R analog cables or the 6 analog cables? If it's being used with a "stereo", try using the L/R red & white rca cables, and see if that will give you the option, although I thought it would with the digital cable too. Not familiar enough with the 5900.............Good luck!

I have used 2 RCA cables to the FL1 and FR1 audio outputs. I have shifted them to the FL2 and FR2 outputs, with no change in the setup options.

Try it with a digital coax cable. If you don't have one, you can use the yellow video rca cable. The yellow one is a 75 ohm cable, and that's what's needed for digital hookup. Just try it and see what happens........... :)

Denon tech support replied and sent a phone number to call. When I called, they said to try a master reset (the code was in the manual as a solution to a lost password to the children security feature). They said that using the Denon Link could lock out features like two-channel and that maybe it just needed to be re-set.

This did not work. I called HI-FI Buys and my salesman said immediately that he would order a new unit. I am to pick it up tomorrow.

Thanks for your help.
