Man guys, you need a degree to make heads or tails out of Denon manuals.

I'm trying to hook up a Denon DVD 2900 DVD player to my Denon AVR5800 receiver.

I suppose that going component video from DVD-receiver-TV is the best way.

Now what about audio? I'm soo confused. I'm more into 2-channel music than surround sound but of course will use both.

So, do I hook up audio from DVD-receiver using analog? If so, I guess I use the Ext. in on the receiver for fronts, center, sub, rears.

Or is it better to go optical fiber?

Or coax?

Appreciate any help,
ew

Hook up both. Your 5800 will give you more flexability and possibly better sound for digital sourced and you will need to hook up the analog connections for SACD and DVD-A to get their best quality.

Hook up the 6-channel analog for SACD (that's the ONLY way it will work) and the digital (coax or optical, doesn't really matter much) for everything else.
