Hi, I have a demon avr789 and the display went blank one day and has come on one time for about 30 minutes before shutting off again. I've tried resetting, pressing dimmer button, and made sure it wasn't on pure direct. It seems like an internal problem and its out of warranty. im about to open it up and check solder points and connections. Does anyone have any suggesTions on what I should look for before I get in there and find out I have no idea what I'm looking at? I'm mechanically inclined so I'm not worried about breaking it or not being able to put it back together. Just don't want to have to pay more money on it thank I already have. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

Carefully take it apart..
Denon uses a thin ribbon cable connectors between circuit boards, and there is one to the front panel board check it to make sure it is firmly seated..

Just my $0.02... ;)

I opened it up but I got discouraged after breaking it down and seeing I'd have to go even further into it to get to the screen since I still had the ribbon attached to the front panel circuit boards. So I put it back together and ill live with it till I wont. Then ill Send it in to get fixed

......so you have nothing to lose at this point....try some of that tuner spray from Radio Shack.....I have cleared up scratchy volume controls and few other problems for a time that way..problem with newer equipment is that they use a micro-thin sealer on printed circuits to prevent oxidation and spray cant get to problem point...aside from that, just poking the mentioned ribbo wire with set on to see if you get any response, but sounds like you did that

Yeah I did that. Is that what the display is plugged in by? I didn't want to get too deep after almost breaking a connection on the power circuit board (must have ACCIDENTLY left that part out earlier). I thought the display might plug in through another plug on the board that controls the whole front panel, since The dynamic volume light works but the display doesn't. There is a factory service center in baton rouge I'm gonna call and price a service charge and a new display panel to see what the worst case scenario would be. now if I can justt crank up my alligator to get there........
