Denon AVR3805 Subwoofer Q

Hi,

Somehow my AVR3805 stopped recognizing my MK subwoofer. I had this problem once before and ended up resetting to factory defaults to recover. Somehow, I must have flipped some kibble that's causing my problem. When I do a tone test, the SW does not output tones. I know the sub is fine, so I don't think I have a functional problem.

Does anyone have an idea as to what setting I am missing? I suspect it's something very obvious.

Please save me from my pain! Not having my 12inch driver is making me crazy!

Thanks,

Steve

Welcome to the forum, Steve!

I was trying to think of a single button that you could have pressed to turn off the sub, but I haven't found the silver bullet. Some things to look at:
  • I thought that "Pure Direct" mode might shut off your sub, but I'm not sure - check to see if that's been turned on.
  • Check if your speakers have been set to "LARGE." That would likely automatically turn off the signal to the subwoofer.
  • Check to see if the subwoofer level on your Denon has been turned way down.
  • Verify that your subwoofer is still turned on (not trying to be patronizing).
  • Verify that the subwoofer volume control hasn't been turned way down.
  • Make sure that the cable between the sub and the receiver is still connected on both ends.

Hi,

Thanks for the ideas. You weren't patronizing at all. I would have suggested the same. One thing I had not checked was my cables and sure enough, it was plugged into the wrong jack. I suspect my son was messing around with it at some point.

Yahoooo! :D Back to making the house shake . . . and the neighbors too. :)

Merry Christmas and thanks again for making me get back to basics!

Cheers!

Steve
