Denon AVR3300 + DVD2910 - which DAC?

I recently purchased the dvd 2910 - the old player died, and I've been curious about SACD. I got out the manual for the avr 3300 and got the 6-channel sound set up for playing music. (sounds great!)

Now I'm curious if I should be using the 2910 for listening to movies, given that the DACs are newer and probably better than on my old receiver. I got out the manuals again, and I can get some sound using the external inputs. However I'm not getting any sound out of the subwoofer. I'm using the small speaker setting.

Has anyone tried this? I'm assuming the Denon menus haven't changed that drastically in 4 years... If anyone can tell me the settings you're using, I'd appreciate it.

You can always connect both and switch back and forth while watching a film and see which pleases you more. I did this just last night with my receiver and 3910. My conclusion was that the 3910 had better DACs. I know you're using the 2910 and that the 3910 supposedly has better audio than the 2910, though I don't know if it's true, and if so, how significant the difference is. But it's easy to just test for yourself!

I'm wondering why I'm not getting anything through the Sub, though.

Switching back and forth - on my receiver this is by going back & forthe from the Dolby DTS or external input buttons, on the remote.

When using ext inputs,i think you need everything set up from the DVD player. The only thing the reciever does is volume,i think.
