Denon AVR A110 Keeps Powering On By Itself

Hello,

My Denon AVR A110 receiver has the tendency to turn on automatically without me knowing - typically after I watch a video at night. I turn off the TV and blu-ray player, & any connected power amplifiers are shut off (standby) and then I power down the AVR, and go to bed. However after waking up at about 5 am and walking across the room, the AVR is powered on. I'm not sure how long it takes for it to power back on and I do not understand why. I turned off the "Bravia Sync" (CEC) in my Sony TV - I turned off the CEC in my oppo blu ray player, HDMI control is set to off in the AVR but it may sometimes find its way back on. The AVR is connected to the TV by ARC/eARC. I've done a factory reset, doesn't seem to make a diff.

I contemplated whether it was related to the network functionality or network control, which is set to on in standby. And I also was thinking that maybe auto update could be the cause.

Please help, I do not wish it to run all night or whenever it feels like it.

Same here, have had that happen to one of my Yamaha AVR's. A TSR-7790, dam thing would turn on for no reason. Did like you did disabled CEC, HDMI links set to off. What I found out was, I had a Sony PS3 set to auto update I disabled that and never did it again.

I'd suspect the network control myself, and would try turning that off. Neighbor with a remote I suppose is possible. Maybe automatic firmware update, but I leave that off anyways.

It is very unusual for a piece of electronic stuff to power on by itself without some sort of timing switch. One of the remote possibilities:
Some houses are haunted. If it's an old house, maybe the OP needs help from an exorcist?

You are on the right track. I found the only way to minimize this nuisance was to turn off/disable everything that has to doe with the CEC related features, but if you still use ARC, you may still get it occasionally. By disabling ARC as well, I got my (a lower model Denon) to turn itself off only about once a month. Then recently I replaced the Amazon fire stick with a new one and my AVR has never turn itself off, for at least 4 to 5 months. The Fire stick may be just a coincident, it could have been fixed by the last FW update too.

I assume the A110 could get quite warm even just idling if not well ventilated. So for such an expensive AVR, you probably should set Eco to auto so if it wake itself up in the middle of the night without you knowing, it wouldn't cook itself.

I saw the same problem at a couple of homes where I had installed systems- Denon told me to turn off Network Standby and that cured it.
