Hello,

This was a long-standing problem my parents had but I just addressed. When I turn the receiver on only one of the two speakers is able to produce sound.

The speakers were hooked up to the "Main Speakers" area. When I hook up the speakers on the left side they work. They do not work when wired to the right side. Is this problem fixable?? if so how expensive do you think it would cost?

Maybe leaving them on the left side?
That's not really a solution.;) I would venture to say there is something wrong with the right output channel. Considering it's age, I would replace it. There are plenty receivers under $200 that would do what that Denon does plus more. The cost to repair would not likely be worth while.

What speakers are being used with the receiver?

I do not quite understand...is sound only coming out of the left speaker....it could be many things... i had a onkyo reciever where sound came out of only the left speaker than i would turn up the volume and the right speaker would kick in...basically i could only listen to music at high volumes, at low volumes one speaker would cut out and only would come out of one speaker...at moderate to high volumes everything was fine ( i still do not know what the problem is but this receiver is collecting dust at the moment)

You just can't guess at the cost of repair. It might be anything from the input to the preamp section all the way to the output devices. Without testing with instruments you have no clue.

Get an estimate for repair or replace it. The estimate will cost you as there is
significant time and labor to find the problem as a rule.
