hey guys its been a while since I been here, but just wanted to know if the above combo is a good pair? I had the 3808 with svs system and got rid of it "sold to my friend". I can get a good price on the 3310 like 250 brand new. so any input is appreciated thanks.
I posted this on loud speakers basically for the 683 input or any other recommendation.

I run my B&W 683s off my Denon 889 (same as 2309). I absolutely love what they do together! I do admit however that i really wish my Denon had pre-outs so i could ad a power amp. (emotiva xpa-3 to be specific).

But the 3310 does have pre-outs so i highly recommend them together. I have been doing a lot of research on upgrading my 889 to something like either the 3311 or 4311...(or Marantz 7005 or Pioneer SC-27/or 37 yada yada!)

Enough about me :)... for home theater use (bluray) the 683s paired with the Denon are phenomenal. Once properly calibrated & room treated at least a bit, i have literally listened to many other system that cost more that twice as much that dont touch mine. Take that comment for what it is since i'm sure it comes from a biased viewpiont. But i have had others comment to me the same.

For music i like them but i do understand that i am currently underpowering them so i am not hearing them at their potential. I am satisfied but sometimes still desire a little more... because ive heard more... i.e B&W 802D, Thiels higher end stuff, Magnapans etc.

But for their price point i have never once regretted my purchase.

I hope this helps you in even the least bit! If you have any questions about them directly feel free to ask!

Happy hunting & happy listening!

thanks for the reply I did have a good system that I let go:( but I did it because my friend insisted. I would like to know if it is going to be similar to what I had or is it a different style. Is the 3310 as good as the 3808? Or should I post on the av thread??

It depends on the size of the room they are going in, but I would think it would generally be a good setup. Since it has pre-outs, power won't be an issue long term.

Ive got my 683s & Denon 889 in a 14' x 19' room with an area attached that is 8' x 10' all with 8' ceilings. With movies i can easily get into the 100dB+ range without a hint of stress or distortion. So depending on your listening habits i'd say that the 3310 will be more than enough to get them up in volume.

The difference between the 38xx & 33xx series is going to be feature sets & slight increase in power that will make almost no audible difference. We are talking 1dB-2dB max. Barely perceivable.

Once you get into the 33xx series, in my opinion, you will not get any noticable change audibly by going higher in reciever models. Once you have pre-outs the biggest increase will be to increase power by at least double what the AVR can output. In other words, if the 3310 has all the features you need & you like the way Denon sounds (whatever that means) then it will be a great buy!

I have a friend with 3310 and 683. Very good sounding set-up for the $. 683 a little forward in the mid/vocals for me, and the cabinets and grills are junk.

His 3310 was made in China.

I have a Yamaha Z7. Very similar to the V3900. Audioholics has a refurb V3900 for $699. I believe it's a better receiver, not to mention a smoking deal.

I also use MB Quart 830 (original made in Germany) speakers. These can be had for $999 a pair. http://www.yawaonline.com/mbquql63tosp.html

In my opinion, and my friend who has the exact set-up you mention, my system is superior.

Other original MADE IN GERMANY MB Quart models available :http://www.yawaonline.com/speakers.html

I did notice the receiver I listed is a good bit more than the one you listed. Just wanted to keep the system recommendation as close to my personal comparison as possible.

I have owned my MB Quart speakers since 2003, and I have not heard any 1k pair of speakers to this day that even come close. Keep in mind, while they do have excellent FR, they are mids and tweets. They are designed to be used with a sub in an HT system. When set-up properly, they are shocking. 2.1 is superb as well.

The cabinets and grills are premium quality.

I'm not fond of any B&W speakers I've listened to, but I am fond of Denon receivers.:D

I think the Denon 3310 @ $250 brand new is an absolute steal.

Please tell me where I can get a AVR-3310 brand new for $250, I'll buy one right now, heck I might even get 2 at that price.

I was thinking the same thing.:D

I already have 3 Denons, but @ $250 for a brand new 3310, I would be seriously tempted.
