Oh and as for a specific question. Its my understanding that the Denon models with four digits AVR-XXXXCI ect ect are there high end stuff compared to there 3 digit models AVR-XXXCI.. And if so what kinda difference's are we talking.
And are Discrete amplifers. They was i understood the sales guy was that that ment each channel was amplified seperatly were cheap AVR's just use one big Amp
Not high end necessarily, but they're sold to dealers who sign up for them and the CI (Custon Integration) channel, which aren't the "cash and carry" dealers. The 3 digit models are sold through distributors, not rep firms who sell direct to the dealer. It appears that the custom dealers and stores are giving Denon pressure to take features and benefits away from small, independent operations like mine and others who just don't want to have a storefront and carry inventory. There are a lot of independents who know how to and are able to do things the major ones can't, or won't.
There's nothing wrong with the 3 digit models, at all, and I'm listening to one right now. What the 4 digit models have is additional control methods (RS-232/Denon Direct), 12VDC triggers, courtesy outlets and more in/output jacks. They sound the same, although I think the AVR-990 I replaced with an AVR-991 had a better tuner. Both can be connected to and controlled through a local network.
The 3 digit amps have discreet amplifiers, too- it's in the manual for the AVR-990 and 991.
Cheap AVRs may use one chip
per channel or pair of channels but I don't think anyone uses one for the whole thing.
