Denon AVC 6500H firmware issue?

Hi there,

I noticed that my Denon AVC-6500H did not ever find any firmware updates via its online update function. Result was always. "No update required. Latest update installed.". I started to get suspicious, and wanted to confirm that I am running the lastest firmware.

Since Denon has discontinued to inform via web about firmware update releases and what's been fixed or added - btw. anyone know why that is? - I got in touch with the local Denon reseller here in Norway. Two support technicians and some product chiefs later(!) they let me know the latest firmware version for EU-models would be 1461-3051-1126-1000 from 10.2021 - see attachment.

Now, my receiver has 1461-9111-1148-1000 - and nobody seems to know what that version is and how that came from.

So I wonder, what firmware versions are on your AVC 6500H's out there?

Regards,
F

When you verify your firmware on your TV screen, what does your AVC say? Does it indicate that you have the latest firmware?

I would stop worrying about it. If you have no issues forget it. Generally firmware updates occur in the first year or two and then stop.

If there are no issues, there is nothing to improve. A lot of people do not update firmware unless they have issues. Firmware updates can and have bricked receivers, especially if done by Wi-Fi which you should NEVER do.

If your unit is not working properly, operation may be improved by restoring the firmware to factory defaults. You should find out how in your owner's manual.
But if you proceed this way, make sure the unit is connected to the internet. A Wi-Fi connection is not reliable.

Thanks for your input, especially the wifi tip - appreciated. No issues, no problems here - just curious :)

Firmware updates are probably done for that model in any case, and if its not addressing a specific issue you're having, you'd never notice a firmware "update". They don't provide new functionality as you would get in a newer unit generally. I've only had one update over several avrs actually mean anything, and it was late in coming (changing the app for Spotify to connect style, had several months of non-functioning after spotify changed their apps).
