That's odd, Littleb. Most people find that if anything, B&W speakers are a tad bright. Never heard of a lack of treble. I'm not implying you don't know how to set em up, but could it be that one of the shorting strips that connect the woofers & tweeters was loose? I had that happen with my Monitor Audio speakers once. Couldn't figure out why they sounded thin and lacking in slam, just sounded off. After running test CDs, putting in several DVDs, etc., I looked at the back of the speakers and found that the strip was loose and I was running one speaker with only the tweeter! D'oh!

I've never owned B&W, but I've heard many of their speakers and I always thought they souned pretty decent. I once heard a pair of 801s, and they were among the very best dynamic-driver speakers I've ever heard. Maybe not bang for buck, not a bargain, but throwing out price they were amazing.

littleb : The Yamaha's tweeters just about drilled a hole through my ear drums. I can't tell you all how disappointed I was in the B&W's. I looked at them as my dream speaker, but the dream became a nightmare.

Yamaha just recently caved in to market pressure and used metal for their tweeters, the earlier award winning NS-200/300 speakers with their silk dome tweeters were the sweetest and most accurate speakers you could buy and that too at a price way less than B&W.

The NS-555 is their low end offering and if you get a chance, try their top of the line NS-6HX and NS-8HX.

I guess that maybe all B&W speakers I've litesend to on a Yamah system had loose wire

I really don't know why people push european sound, it really isn't what rock n' roll, metal, and alternative were made for.

Linkin Park should sound as thought they are 25ft away from me, not 250ft.

To all B&W 600 series fans,

If I offended anyone while I described my experience with the 602s3's, it was not intentional. I just wanted to warn anyone who might be concerned about the compatibility of Yamaha and B&W. If they worked for you I'm glad.
