I have to come down on the side of "it works for me" regarding Denon's website. It is simple, straight forward, and it has (as has been pointed out by others) a wealth of information regarding products past and present. It is what I'd expect from engineers in an engineering company who's focus is on the product, not the marketing. I'd much rather see Denon's investment go into product than web fluff.

I like that Denon includes product comparison charts, technical info, brochures, photos, and owner's manuals. And yes, although maybe a bit strident, Resident Loser has it right, I remember having to go to stores hoping to find printed brochures, and sometimes having to ask pretty please for one. So, what ever else it may not have, I've consistently found more info on products on the Denon site than I have for other companies whose products I considered (i.e., that's a disclaimer as I am only including sites for products I looked at - i.e., could afford :) ).

What is funny, is that I think that one of the reasons I did end up buying Denon was because of the information on their website!

...it became increasingly difficult to get product literature...as at car dealerships, that printed matter doesn't just appear out of the goodness of someones heart...the dealer pays for it...a cost ultimately passed on to the consumer or shaved off the profit margin.

Or eliminated entirely, now with the web, it's well nigh impossible to get much more than a terse "go to the website" as a response for a request for brochures and the like.

I would rather download as i have all my manuals. It just seems easier to sit here and read them. I've missed stuff in the printed ones and saw stuff i've missed on the downloaded.

Companies like SVS and Hsu have to have pretty web sites because they only sell on line. Heck, i was almost sold on the SVS PB 10 just from the web site alone!!!!! All the reviews, glowing reports....a part of me started wondering, "why are these guys pushing all these reviews" and why do i only hear the good.

Denon does not need to do this. we already know they are the best.

i think the best site I have seen in a while is bluejean cables site. Straight to the point no B.S...tell you that you don't need this, or that...don't want you to spend more than you have to. No lying. I like the fact they tell you bi-wiring has no significant advantages and banana plugs are not needed and bare wire is better. But if you still choose to buy these products, here they are.....Love it! I respect that approach a heck of a lot more.

the Denon Canada site isn't bad though! :)
I just had to look. I can see it is prettier than the USA site - it looks more like a Crutchfield catalog or other "consumer" website. I like the little photos to help give you a clue as to the product you are looking at.

On the other hand I couldn't find product comparison sheets nor could I find the "technical papers" and other set-up material as is posted to the USA site.

The USA site has these things, but it isn't obvious. You have to "mouse over" the little symbols in the product header/divider bars to see what is there. And the little pop-up title may say "review" but the actual information is a tech specs or set up paper. This could be done better, or maybe it is like "easter egg" hunt only the curious and adventurous are rewarded? :p

Also the "Discontinued Archive" on the USA site is much larger than the Canada site. And (not a website issue), no Denon turntables on the Canada site! No vinyl in Canada?

I can't decide whether I like the uniform space per piece on the Canada site - clicking the "more" button to see details - or the putting more info up front as they do in the USA site and if you really want more you click on the product sheet button.
