Denon 4310 or Integra DTR-50.1???

I was all set to go with the Denon 4310 before my dealer mentioned the Integra DTR-50.1. I have no prior experience with Integra, but they look interesting.

I can't find enough on display in local shops to do a worthwhile demo. A high end Integra ($2,400 model) connected to B&W CM9's sounded awesome and a mid range Integra ($1,000 model) connected to B&W FPM's sounded terrible. Probably the speakers were affecting the sound more than anything else.

I will say, despite their feature sets, I have never liked Onkyo's. Their receivers all sound terribly flat to my ears. But I'm not sure how closely the sound from Integra's would compare to Onkyo's.

The only downside I have found with the Denon's is thier terrible remotes and probalem ridden networking (both of which are fairly big down sides for me). The Denon's seem to have ample power (more than the Onkyo's IMHO), and they do not have that flat sound to my ears.

Any good comparisons out there between these two model's, or Denon and Integra in general? Any recommendations?

I also have noticed that the Onkyo's all run extremely hot. The Integra's I have seen all seem to run very cool. I'm clearly no electrical engineer, but I would think there would need to be some considerable differences between the two lines based on this?

Integra is owned by Onkyo, dunno if that rules them out for you. I like the sound of Denon's mid-high end stuff. Might check out Marantz, although I haven't listened to any of their receivers.

We have the 50.1 in our room, and it's beautiful. The features on it are spectacular, but it has a hefty price tag. If I remember correctly, it was $1,200 not bad as far as 11.2 receivers go, but we're only using it as 9.2. Ours is having "overload" issues when it's not even that loud, and all the wires are in tact, none are touching, none are hooked up wrong. It could be that this one is faulty, it's only about 2 months old. But as far as the operations and features go, and the on screen menu, it's great.
