I started a thread concerning buying a dedicated cd player a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, I realized that the space available in my cabinet (the space above my Denon 2200) can accommodate a player about 3" in height. The only players I found that would fit is the Cambridge 640c (which I thought sounded harsh), the Creek EVO (got mixed reviews) and the Music Hall 25.2 (which is 3" tall and might not fit).

Then I thought of selling my Denon 2200 (again) and replacing it with the Denon 3930ci based on Clint's review. I'm wondering how redbook cd's would sound on the 3930 compared to a dedicated cd player?

I have the Denon DVD-557, and I use it exclusively as a CD player. It sounds great. Remember, Denon uses the excelent Burr Brown DAcs.

I've got a Denon 3910, and cds sound great on it, even though DVD-As/SACDs sound so much better that I don't listen to cds much anymore.
