What would be a good set of speakers for the Denon 3808? I do not plan to include an amp any time soon.

There is no such thing as a good pair of speakers for any AVR. Speakers should be picked out first and be based on budget and the sound you like. Dedicate 3/4 of your budget towards your speakers.

Your only option is to go out and audition all the speakers you can find and see what you like. If you have already purchased the 3808 you will be fine, with most speakers you find, as it has a decent amount of power. Just try to find something in the 8 ohm range with a decent sensitivity above 90db or so.

I suggest Def Techs. Just stay away from Paradigm. *jk*

Seriously, I have no life.
I set up a system a couple of years ago for someone with an AVR-987 (1907 equivalent) and Dynaudio Audience 52, 42W, 42C and Sub250. They have had absolutely no issues driving the speakers and the sound is excellent. Dynaudio recently discontinued the Audience line because they wanted to be able to sell more to people with receivers that don't really like a 4 Ohm load and the Excite series was born. Easier to drive, excellent sound.
