I bought a 3806 a couple weeks ago and finally have time to hook it up to my TV and such. This is my first receiver that is actually decent (everything else from cheap HTIB).

So my plan was to run all my video and audio to the receiver and run one HDMI cable to my TV. I hooked up my oppo to hdmi in-1 and it works just fine. But when i hook up my Wii via component in-1 and the red/white to any audio-in and I go into the set up and try to get everything working all I ever manage is to get video never audio.

I know it is supposed to be possible with the 3806 but I cannot figure it out and the instructions really arent helping.

Sorry for plaguing the forums with questions I am really new to this!

the HDMI output will carry upconverted video signals from video sources other than HDMI but it will not output audio over HDMI if the audio signal originates from a source that is not a HDMI source. so it sounds like your receiver is working as it should.

No receiver that I know will convert digital audio to analog for output over analog outputs - regardless of whether the digital audio originated from an HDMI input or a digital coax or digital optical input.

Is your component video input assigned to the same source unit your audio is connected to, VDP for example.

Did you ever get this resolved? If so, how?

I can't even get video to come up. I have the same setup using HDMI to TV and running all other devices through 3806. Currently I have been trying to hook up the Wii through V.Aux in front of receiver and thought I made the appropriate changes in assigning the input and outputs, but no dice. Is it even possible to run RCA's cables(cables Wii provided) into the receiver and have the 3806 upconvert through HDMI cables? I know the image quality will be only as good as the source, but is that even possible. Has anyone else had issues with this.

Talking about an old post, this was my first or second post on the forum .

The 3806 will take analog sources and output them via HDMI. You will need to go into the OSD of the 3806 and assign not only the HDMI inputs, but also the analog inputs and also you might need to turn on the ability to upconvert the analog signal to digital (I cannot remember if it is automatically turned on).

The user manual has everything you will need to do in this - both audio and video need be assigned.

Yeah, I I looked at the manual and it's so hard to decipher some of the instructions. Maybe since I didn't assign the audio, that's why it wasn't working. I don't know though, because you were able to get video. I am sure it's user error on assigning inputs and outputs. I maybe overlooking something. I also might try running the cables to another source like DVD or VDP. I have had issues connecting other devices to the V.aux before. What source do you have your Wii on?

Video and audio should be separate, if one is assigned properly it will show up even if the other is not. It sounds like your HDMI settings aren't properly set up.

When I had a Wii it was connected via component 1 for video and the VCR setting for audio, but since everything is assignable it doesn't matter...

I think I need to go get the component cable at wal-mart vs. using the RCA cable it came with. It sounds like yours came with component cable vs. rca. Or did you go by a new cable?
