Ive read somewhere that the 3806 had half baked HDMI switching... i checked the site and saw that the 3806 can switch 1080p HDMI. I was wondering if this is a new model 3806 this year or the 3806 actually has 1080p HDMI switching thats not buggy or limited... ive read that some HDMI switching receivers are having compatability issues... can someone clear this up for me?

The 3806 does have 1080P HDMI switching. Don't know why it's considered half baked. Presume you spotted that in the CNET article about the 2807?

Upconverting

I believe that the 3806 will only upconvert any composite/s-video/component source to 480i over HDMI and the new 2807 will actually upconvert/upscale it to 480p. I am not positive, but I think this is the case.

Also, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO switch HDMI from a cable box until the cable companies implement the firmware updates to allow HDMI repeaters. Most DVD players with HDMI will pass through the receiver fine.

if you do want to switch digital video using a HD/Cable Box consider looking at A/V recievers that use DVI switching and use a HDMI to DVI cable or adaptor.

the problem with 99% of the a/v reciecers using HDMI switching is they are using HDMI/HDCP ver. 1.1, and 99.9% of the HD Cable boxes & HD DVR's are still using HDMI/HDCP ver 1.0. I had this same issue and was even told by my cable provider (COX) the they have "no imediate plans" to support HDMI (firmware updates) in any way shape or form.

I know that was a little off subject, sorry
