Denon 3805, is HDMI worth the upgrade?

I have had the Denon 3805 as a loving member of my AV family since 2004 and I couldn't be happier with the sound quality...even still. Its amazing.

However, I moved and I find myself with a logistics conundrum wherein I need to run a dedicated HDMI to my TV from my STB and PS3 for video, and since my Denon doesn't have HDMI inputs or outputs, I cannot route them all through my in wall wiring. In essence, I have cords draped across my wall.

Looks like crap.

So here is the question.

I would love to have an AV receiver with the HDMI inputs. However, like most folks my finances are a bit tighter than they used to be so I would like to spend less than $500.

Are there any new sub $500 systems out there that you would recommend who's sound can compare with the 3805?

5.1 system in an 18x24 room.

C Channel - Aperion Audio Intimus 5c Center Channel
L/R Front Channel - Aperion Audio Intimus 5 Bookshelf
L/R Rear Channel - Aperion Audio Intimus 4 Bipole
Sub - Velodyne DDS 18

Appreciate any ideas or recommendations.

Sub $500? No. The 3805 was never close to $500, so I can't understand why you would think a new model at that price would be comparable.

You don't absolutely need HDMI. Yet. If you have a BluRay player, you'll need it by the end of 2013 if you want to see video in 1080p. If you can live with less resolution, you don't need it at all.

To match SQ and power of the 3805 you need to grab a 4310 but it will be >500. At one point it went as low as $900 for a new one but apparently price has since gone up. I have the 3805 and then the 4308 so I know the feeling.
