Denon 3400 vs 3500, 3600 vs current Sony STRDH590

I’m thinking about pulling the trigger on the Denon 3600 and getting from Crutchfield. My question is, should I get the Square Trade extended warranty? I have purchased so so many warranties & in my experience, they expire before the product fails.
What does everyone else do? Warranty, to extend or not to extend & just go with their manufacture warranty?

I look at this 2 ways:
1) They make money off of it, and their prices are based on well researched failure rates plus a little extra (on top of their profit margin) to provide a safety factor since you cannot truly predict the future, so you have to figure you are money ahead to waranty/insure yourself! (IOW, you pay to repair/replace it)
2) If it would be hard to come up with the coin to replace it, were it to fail, then the extended insurance may be worthwhile if you don't like the idea of going without for any length of time. (this is why my home is insured, my new car has comprehensive insurance (but my 20 year old car does not), etc.

Many credit cards offer extended warranties simply by using them to make the purchase.

You get a three year Denon warranty and a 60-day money-back guarantee from Crutchfield. I think that's enough. Save your money.

My real concern is you will wait to long to order and the deal will be gone.

The way I’ve always learned is that you never buy an extended warranty if you have the cash to replace it without it hurting you financially.
Insurance is typically only for homes, cars and anything else of significant value.
I believe in self-insuring. I think about the thousands of dollars I’ve saved over the years only to have an electronic device fail once in a while.

question: My Sony has what I could ONLY imagine as being one of the most basic EQ & calibrating tools featured in an AVR.
Would Audessey 32XT allow me to EQ each channel separately? Sometimes I think that there is too much bass going to the center channel to where anything below 80 Hz goes to the sub & makes the voices boomy. I’d be happy to invest in a receiver if I had more control over the sound. And I know there’s the app available for purchase too.

Audyssey will automatically EQ your speakers and if you still want to change it you can modify the curve of each individual speaker using the $20 Audyssey EQ app. And if you want even more control you can use Ratbuddy and UMIK to study the Freq response and make pin point adjustments. The Denon system can offer as little or as much EQ as you want either automatically or with manual controls.

I love that! I think that’s what I need to get the most out of my existing speakers. I tried replacing my center channel with a much larger speaker costing almost 5x more & I noticed little difference. I at least didn’t notice enough difference to justify it.
So I don’t know if it’s just that I don’t have a trained ear, or my current Sony receiver isn’t bringing the best out of the more expensive speakers because maybe they aren’t EQ’d correctly, or it’s my room’s acoustics/size?
I also took a look at reviews of my current Sony towers & Sony center speaker & they actually have amazing reviews from many that have even compared them to more expensive speakers. So I think that before I can buy other speakers, I need to learn how to tune/calibrate my current setup.

Great choice! Based on specs, verified by ASR measurements, if used well below it's output limit this thing will "sound better" than many separate components. Just focus on the quality of the media source contents, speakers, placements and you are all set to enjoy! Don't let anyone tell you measurements mean nothing, they mean everything, for engineered products such as AVRs. Yes it is all about distortions, noise, and frequency response. Slew rate, damping factors and a few more specs that audiophiles often cite are typically no longer issues that one needs to worry about any more, for products that are well over the point of diminishing return.

Some people may find certain types of distortions more pleasing to them, but try getting any of the major brands to openly admit that they have purposely designed/build their products to "distort" accordingly, would be a different story lol... And even if they did, or tried, it would be hit and miss for them to come up with something that would match the likings of most people; and if they hit it right, such intended distortions would have shown up/identified/highlighted on bench tests such as AH and ASR's, right??
