So here it is the system but still undecided about the receiver.

Movies and TV 70% Music 30%

Sony KDS-50A2000:)
Fronts Boston VR-2
Boston Micro Center
Boston VRi585T2 Ceiling speakers surrounds
SVS PB12-NSD

because the new Sony has true 1080p do I bother with HDMI or just straight connect back into the TV and avoid the HDMI.

Being in SC we are a bit limited for BM stores BEST BUY or Tweeter so i will be buying on line any thoughts for that as well.

Thanks in Advance

Hi guys. Went today to pick up the Denon 2807. I saw a few Yamaha products in the store and asked about the yamaha 2600...the salesman just smiled. Well, they had them both, side by side with Monitor Audio Speakers. I listen to the Yamaha first and I really liked it but kept thinking to myself the Denon should be as good plus It had the idock feature and it was cheaper. I then listen to the Denon and man, the difference was pretty big. The Yamaha is very clear and sounds big. The Denon sounded less detailed and not as punchy as the Yamaha. After taking a break went in again, just one cd at hand and it was even a more noticeable difference, the yamaha sounded much better imo. So, I gues I'll get an ipod dock later!

If I was going to buy a Yamaha, I would wait for the next generation which will likely be out in a few months. Right now Denon and Pioneer and ahead of Yamaha on features. I doubt Yamaha will let this continue for long. It seems like Yamaha puts out several generations of receivers each year. Wait for them to correct the video upscaling on the 2600 and add the features the other manufacturers are ahead on. It should happen soon.

Yamaha receiver features

Doubt we will see anything new from Yamaha until they anounce the new line up at CES in January. Expect next years model to incorporate features like HDMI 1.3. If you plan to upgrade to one of these models in the next 1-2 years, than pick up a Yamaha RX-V2500 or Denon 3805 to hold you over for a while.

Spoke with Yamaha Customer Support.

i have read alot about customer service at Yammie, most of it not good.
I just got off the phone with them to confirm the no pass through 1080p signal via HDMI.
What a great experience! honest pleasant and informative. He suggested stick with the 2500 as you had suggest Panny, Buckeye1 and others, wait for the new receiver for HDMI 1.3 (he said just follow their timing typically November).

I asked about the overheating problem, and he gave me a great link to http://www.activethermal.com/Cool-It_II.htm
Thermal management very cool(pun) site.

So its a RXV 2500 for me!

He also was an avid Audioholic! and mentioned that Clint and the boys have been kind to them!:)
