Denon 2308: How to configure On Screen Display, and HDMI configuration help...

I am trying to configure my Denon 2308, according to the manual, it seems that is possible to have access to the menu, in the TV monitor, but it was impossible for me to have this feature working.

I have the TV connected by both component and common video cables (not by HDMI, since I have and old TV set), I assume that maybe this feature is only possible with an HDMI monitor (but I couldn't find in the manual nothing saying this).

Other feature I want to know about: is possible to connect an HDMI input to the Denon (from a Western Digital Media Player), even if I don't have an HDMI output in use?

I tried to connect the Media Player by HDMI, but no sound or image was obtained. Maybe HDMI only works when the HDMI output is also in use?. Again, the manual is not clear about this.

thanks for any info!!:)

It may be necessary to use the composite input for the initial setup. Then, you should see the GUI when you use HDMI or component video.

So, I must set to "default" the settings of the receiver, and start the configuration again?

No, just plug the green Component cable (if you're using that) into the composite input of the TV. The green one has the synch, so you'll see the GUI. If you're not using Component video, you'll have to run a cable to the TV or use the display on the front of the receiver, which is why it's there.
