Hey All,

My system consists of the following: (All speakers are Definitive Technology)

Receiver: Yamaha HTR-5860 (5.1System - 95w/Ch - High-current amp)
Mains: BP10_
Center: C/O/R 2500
Surrounds: BP1.2X
Sub: 15TL+

I have a cable from the receiver's LFE OUTput to the sub's LFE INput.
I have all speakers set to "Small" and the Crossover set to 60Hz.

I am not clear on where the High-Pass and Low-Pass filters should be set.
I believe setting the Low-Pass filter to the highest setting is correct, but still
not sure abut the High-Pass.

Thank you in advance!

Tom

The crossover in your avr is the high-pass/low-pass filters in use when you use the avr for control....the LFE input on the sub may even automatically bypass those on the sub itself. I'd think the high pass on the sub isn't employed when no speakers are attached to the sub itself.

To be clear, I am asking about the high and low pass filters on the sub itself. Are you saying because I'm using the LFE input on the sub that you think the filters on the sub itself do not have any effect at all? I think they need to be set somehow, no?

Depends on the sub, some with the LFE input do it automatically, otherwise I'd max out the LPF on the sub to play it safe....

Hmmm...feel like I'm back to square 1. The manual does not it clear.

Perhaps so. I do already, however, have the low pass filter maxed out. So that leaves me with the question of what setting do I use for the high pass filter on the subwoofer?

There's nothing to high-pass since you don't have speakers connected to the sub's outputs, right? At least I doubt it's a protective high pass for below tuning if it's a ported sub and then there'd be no need to make it adjustable particularly. Didn't see much info for that model in a brief search in any case. Altho it is nice to have a sub with both (depending how you might use it, particularly with older 2ch gear), most just have an LPF and call it a crossover.
