Hi I m newly regt to this forum but have read up on a few helpful things before. I am hoping for some help with my sub. I will paste in what I have already sent to Definitive and hope that someone can help. Thanks for any help.

Hi there
I own a supercube 3. I have had it for nearly 3 years. I like it a lot but have been having some problems with it lately. I didn’t register it when I bought it but do have the receipt form 5th Sept 2008. I also live in New Zealand. If its not under warranty then any recommendations would be helpful. It started spluttering or I guess what would be farting a couple of months ago. It does it on start up and again when it shuts down. It will also do it randomly when listening and is quite loud and can give you a fright sometimes no matter what the volume level is set to. It does it with no input signal as well before it shuts down. And now it is also becoming harder and harder to start in the first place. I have actually just now tried to get it started but won’t start at all, although red light is on and also doesn’t seem to be farting at all at the moment, sorry it just did one. It is getting input from a Onkyo sr606 but have also tried it on a Yamaha RX-797 with same result. A few months ago I purchased another sub to run with it and ran it using a y lead RCA since I only have 1 pre out and as I understood it, it should be ok that way. But I did get a hum in the main speakers and I think in the supercube itself. I was working on fixing that but now without the supercube working its not doing it. Ofcourse I’ve been working with and without the other sub in the system. But hasn’t made a difference during this period. I would appreciate any help especially if there’s no warranty - at least some pointers. I’ve moved away from the area I bought it from. Being an Electrician I am used to cables and have actually specialised in hands on A/V work ranging from retail TV and speaker walls to residential multi zone work, so may be able to check for a few things myself. Thanks for your time.
Regards Bart

I would just call def tech and see what they say. Even though it isn't under warranty, they might help you troubleshoot. I had problems with a def tech sub (it was under warranty) and they sent me a new driver and amp that i installed myself.

Another switching power supply biting the dust on a class D sub amp.

You need a new sub woofer amp.
