Hello. I am having a bit of a dilemna...some people tell me I need a bigger center channel...some people say buy 5 satellites...I don't know what to believe anymore...I would think your center should be a little bigger so it can reproduce dialogue and vocals which movies and music highly demand but I'm not sure anymore...anyone have advice? Basically it's between purchasing 5 DefTech 800's...or 4 DefTech 800's and a DefTech 1000 Center...please help me out! Also if anyone has any info on the Aperion 4B's please tell me I was considering those as well. Thanks in advance!

I would off-hand have said get 5 alike, but in this case I checked the specs of the Pro1000 and it is a perfect match for the 800s (see specs below).

In your case the 1000 center might add a little more and since you mentioned movies ( center primarily provides dialog) I would go for the 800s and a 1000 center. Sounds like a very sweet system.

Go with the better center, since more than half of what you hear when watching tv/movies comes from the center channel, you don't want to skimp there. For music it won't make a difference since you won't be using the center anyway. Plus def tech's are voice matched so you won't hear a difference in timbre anyway.

I have that exact setup. 1000 - center, 4 - 800's surrounds, and the supercube 2 for sub. All powered by a Yamaha reciever. Now I'm debating on jumping on the DefTech outdoor speakers that nobody knows anyhting about.
