:DI have a chance to buy the 5.1(new) for cheap. Anyone have experience with them?
I am an avid music listener, for movies center and sub-bass is what I look for in HT's. I heard them at a display on the "The Kingdom" DVD running off a Pioneer AVR. Was not sold on the treble and glass breaking scenes coming from these, however had a good prolonged bass.

What other speakers (and sub) are you getting for your 2 grand?

If you are not impressed with any part, then don't buy them for any price.

Ask the dealer if you can try them out in your own house first. You can never be too sure.

I am getting the fronts, center and sub like the nice pic above.
I have a Yamaha EX-V665 receiver and was wondering if it goes well with these. I might need a higher Wattage pumping receiver for these that will make me spend more on top of the $2k.

Good suggestion for the try out, but these are bulky and set up is a pain.

Def Tech quality

I have De vtech BP-2002's; wonderful speakers.

the 7004's are updated version, smaller size.

What other specific spekers are you getting for $2K.

In general if they are matched to the 7004's I say it's OK; give me specifics to comment mre precisely.

The room acoustics make all the difference in the world, what sounds terrible in one room will sound amazing in another, don't write them off just yet, see if you can listen in home for a few days.

I always commented if I could not afford higher end speakers that cost 4K or more (pair fronts), the 7004 would still make me smile. If they have not been abused, get them. I am going to buy my younger brother a new pair of 7004s for $1,700 before tax.

What I suggest is when setting them up to your sound like, turn off the base completely and raise the volume to where your like the highs and mid, then slowly turn up the base to where you like it.

Althought they are not my primary speakers any more I will always keep my pair of 7004s, in my fish room for listening light pleasure. Bob

Like GlocksRock says, every room is different. Every single room.

I can tell you that my speakers sound 100% better in my house than they did in the store.

So at least have plan B. Ask if you can return these speakers if you don't like them.

The BP7006 in my bedroom sound way better than the BP7001SC in my living room, and I know there is only one reason for that, the room.

Yeah, the bigger your DT BP speakers, the BIGGER the room you need.:D

Your BP7001SC will sound much, much better when you get a room like 20 ft wide x 25 ft deep x 15 ft high.:D

I still think the best placement for these DT BP speakers is 3 - 4 ft from the front wall and 4 - 5 ft from the side walls. But that's just me.

Tell us specifically what sub, center and surrounds you are getting. In today's market it may seem a bit high depending on what else you are getting. I had a friend just pick up some 04's for under $400.

Amazon's "Today Deal" has a few Def Tech speakers 50% off but it is for today only. I tried posting this in the "Deals" section this morning but the thread has yet to be posted :-(

Those are the mythos series that are on sale, but it's a great deal at half off.
