Well, I'm finally far enough along that i will put some pictures up.
The room is 11' x 14' and started life as a 1 car garage. The previous owners did a crappy job turning it into a room with a separate utility room attached. Little background info... I'm 23 and this is my first house and first project ever tackled in it. I have an entire house of remodeling to do but my wife let me start here, with the theater room. So far I've had my uncle Paul help with the electrical wiring, my uncle Darrin with the drywall and construction stuff, my little brother the grunt man, and I've been the brains, money and a grunt while learning how to become a handy man.

onto the pictures!!!

and this will be for this weekend... the garbage wall has some very screwed up studding that will need some help. then it will be insulated, and get 2 layers of 5/8th dry wall with green glue between. this is the only interior wall so I'm going to try and do as much as possible to sound proof it.

up next is the drywall finishing work, paint, carpet and move the gear in.

Neverseen,

Very well done!! It must be very satisfying to finally see the room coming together so well. The room looks 1000% nicer without the 60's wood paneling and indoor/outdoor carpet:D

Good work!!

PS
You can only post so many pictures in one post. If you have a lot to post, you just need to spread it over a couple posts.

Your layout diagram here is much better IMO. From the photo, it looks like you've rotated the front stage over by the door. Even if the wiring is in place, I'd find a way to change the room like you have it above. The HT is much better the way you originally planned.

I also recommend you buy some lined media drapes. If you ever decide to watch movies in the middle of the day, you can darken the room nicely whenever you want:) It will also make it an excellent room for the occasional daytime nap....LOL

ahhh that last picture is showing the current "living room" where all the gear is at right now. the HT is far from done as i still have drywall finishing, carpet and etc.

The room is now 7.1. This is going to be the final layout. There will be some very heavy drapes blocking the light from the window but that will be one of the finish touches. I'll do those at the same time i play around with DIY panels.
