At the moment, I am still undecided. But before I decide I have another question. Does anyone think getting the Avia Setup DVD and SPL meter is necessary? I was thinking about getting an SPL meter but I don't know if she setup dvd is worth $50. But...I've never used one. Should I get it?
i always calibrate via SPL meter, i never use the autocalibration on the receivers. i would say it's very necessary.

So is just the SPL meter necessary? Or do you need both?

Well, sorry to disappoint everyone but I think I'm going to go with the 20-39. Everyone gave me excellent advice but I don't want to break the bank with my first sub. I'm a young guy and I suppose the Ultra will give me something to look forward to. Being my first sub I think that I will be impressed with the 20-39, the few people who have commented about it seem to rave about it. I plan on placing the order tomorrow :) and I will let everyone know how it turns out.... Thanks for the advice...

that's ok, i'm sure it's a great subwoofer if it's just slightly better than my 12" entry level SVS. :)

One last question. Is an RCA to RCA the only cable that I need to run the sub?

so bass-master mike, are you implying that your entry level SVS is excellent? if so, then I will be even more excited (if thats even possible)

i think it's best not to overhype a subwoofer. ;)

"expect the worst and be happily disappointed."

well I sure hope I'm not disappointed (even if it's happily), but I think I understand what you mean

You have made an excellent choice to go with the 20-39, especially because you thought about what you could afford and went with that, rather than over extending yourself.

In time, if you choose to, you can always upgrade, but do it when you can afford it and not just because you think you need it (my own inner battle right now)

Cheers and be sure to post some pics :D
