Hey fellas I have the Dayton Sub 120 being shipped. I read a review that the enclosure of the subwoofer is get this "nothing more than pressed cardboard!!!" Those are the exact words of the person giving the review. Cardboard are you kidding. I have a budget sub Polk audio psw10 hooked up with some polk rm6005 sats and it sounds o.k. The sub was bought for the same price $140.00. The sub is not the best but it is made of wood and the enclosure feels sturdy. Please say it's not so cardboard wow. If anyone has some expirience with this sub let me know it's not true. Tell me I did not buy a cordboard box.

The enclosure is not cardboard.

It is made from Particle Board or MDF. Either of which is suitable for that sub/amp combination.

LOL. No, it isn't cardboard. It wouldn't weigh as much if it was.

My guess is that the reviewer (obviously not a pro) used the term pressed cardboard instead of MDF (medium density fiberboard.) Perhaps he expected plywood. MDF is pressed from wood particles. Cardboard is laid not pressed (like paper) from waste paper.

Most speaker enclosures are made from MDF because it is less prone to resonance than most other options.

Thanks for the clarification. It was hard to belive something made of cardbaord could last and perform well as a sub enclosure. My sub is supposed to arrive today can't wait to hear how it sounds:).

The SVS cylinders are a cardboard like material, and look how they perform. I read straight from either Tom or Ron that not one cylinder had been damaged in shipping.
