Dance Party Room

I'm in college and our house down at OU has a room above the garage that we use for parties and late night dancing. My stuff (Onkyo hts503, Some MTX floorstanding 12") was stolen this summer. I'd like to put something upthere for under $500 that will give me an abundance of sound. The room is a clean slate so I can get speaker parts, build cabinets, mount drivers in walls, anything.

The system is going to be: Laptop-->Receiver/Amp-->Speakers

Pretty simple, it's going to be heard by drunk sorority girls, so I'd just like to throw some bass in their direction.

What's the loudest sound for the money? I'm all about creativity and projects.

I could also throw my Velodyne DPS12 up there, but I'd like to keep my good system out of harms way and spilled beers.

Room dimensions: about 25' x 18', roof peaks at center, Bar in corner.

I'd spend the majority of the $500 budget on speakers and preferably on something that has a very high sensitivity ( > 90 dB/1W/1M). If you look at used or B-stock you could get a decent stereo or surround receiver for around $200 or less and a pair of stereo speakers. With the high sensitivity, you wouldn't need a huge amount of power to get things very loud.

Any reccomendations for manufacturers who still make speakers with 12" or above woofers? Or any reliable vintage big speakers? I have a couple really old Sansui 15", but they are blown. What's a good brand for just a 15" woofer, I could replace the woofers?

I was thinking Onkyo TX8222 for the receiver, or Onkyo TXSR304.

Any ideas on just using an amp? Like a DJ type one.

Remember I could build just about anything in this room, bass scoops, floating floor, a wall of woofers, sound panels.
