DAC and internal soundcard?

OP can implement ether of them.

I do like to tweak and try new setup options, remake my PC and such, so more topics for experimentation is always good! I'll won't buy something expensive just because somebody says i should, but contradicting opinions leave the most food for thought and more to read into!

Yes, those are the ones I mentioned. If you want to delve in deeper, there are plenty of books out there. However, those papers are an excellent place to start.

As I said, if it was not meant as buying advice, you can read it with a smile. However, Jelle already has an external DAC in his possession and is asking us advice on how to make the most out of it. You already explained to him that he does not need an extra internal sound card, and I wanted that to be clear.

I hope Jin didn't read any more into it then that. If it came over any other way, I sincerely apologize.
