I just picked up a new Denon AVR-2307CI from my local authorized dealer. Coupled with my new PB12-Plus and ERA Design 5's (both still in transit), I've made a considerable investment in quality sound. It's all Audioholic's fault for making me aware that there was a whole world of high quality music and equipment available. I could have remained blissful and ignorant, but no, I had to stumble onto this site out of the whole WWW. Now that I'm aware, I can't go back. Why did I have to take the Red Pill??? :p

Funny Ha Ha. I just packed up my Bose 3-2-1 last night and put it back into its original box. I don't know what to do with it now. It's intolerable now that I've started auditioning good equipment. I was content until I started thinking.

Bah.

I DID wind up with Bose. Then I came here, and found out they're no good. I've just bought a Yamaha receiver, now I begin replacing my speakers... one at a time, so my wife doesn't notice ;) .

I second the cursing of the Audioholics :D .

Hey at least it's a start, chalk it up to experience. And besides, I'm sure some of the experts around here made the same mistake, no one's born an Audioholic, they're made;) (sounds like an Army thing).

Put it in the local classifieds or Ebay, I had a local guy pay me $450 for my 8 year old 701's.

Actually, I'm shopping with this in mind. I believe I stretched a little and went with excellent main speakers that won't need to be upgraded any time soon, but I still need the matching center and some surrounds. I chose the AVR-2307CI because it was the most affordable receiver with HDMI switching/decoding/upconverting from analog and has a full set of pre-outs. Eventually, I think I'll want an amp with more power and headroom, so I can just get a separate and use the AVR as a pre-pro. I think it has enough power for now, so another amp is a far future consideration. Finally, I can't see myself upgrading the PB12-Plus unless I move into some kind of mansion.

My wife is pushing me to get this whole system done sooner. At Christmas, I had no upgrade plans, but now I'm about two months ahead of my "Audioholics" update plan. I planned on building onto my bedroom system (AVR-686S, Athena AS B1.2, Sony Sub) and moving it into the living room, but that's already done.

She even offered her CC to get the receiver in case I didn't want to use mine. That's not only a rarity, it's downright scary. I don't want to go from receiver to receivership.

I may be going out on a limb here but, don't you guys have more than one TV? Those Bose wouldn't sound half bad in the bedroom. At least until you start upgrading that system too.

Mwaaahahahahahaha....

No TV in the bedroom... but there is a game room with no equipment in there yet...

Notice I said "game room". Its how the PC among us refer to a MAN'S ROOM. There. I feel better now.

My AVR-686S will go back to its place in the bedroom and the 2307CI in the living room.

I have a 2-person jacuzzi tub in the basement bathroom. The Bose could go in there for some music during long soaks.
