Space was an issue so the powered front mordaunts really helped in that regard. My cabling is all up to snuff. Music is my main goal and that is sounding really great. I can't believe DVDA is not gonna make it......... eventually I would like to upgrade my fronts, but that is another day. I am currently working on sound levels and picture levels. I am gonna buy an spl meter, and have digital video essentials queued up in the player.........comments and suggestions welcome. Last edited: Jun 4, 2008

From the first photo I was going to tell you to turn your mains to your sweet spot, but in the second photo it looks like they are. But I see that your center channel just sits on top of the television. You should be one of those MoPads to aim it down to the listening area. JMO Just a Thought.

These are the 500 series. The 506's look just like the 900's. I think they are the same enclosure. Both sport a sidefiring 10 inch woofer. These 5's have powered subs, with a built in amp in each speaker, where as the 900 series just have a traditional bass set up and are not powered. They sound excellent, for the price range. They are well made, heavy, kick *** binding posts, with nice fit and finish. I think just over a $1000 new for the fronts. I paid $700 used for the fronts and center on ebay. I had major space issues with the TV on that wall. The sub approach just took up too much space, so these speakers are perfect. They are the first thing I would upgrade, however, if the $$$ comes around. Great speakers for HT. For music-just missing a tad in the mids and high end-though the 3910 really helped step up in that regard.

This is my first real rig, and I vowed to be anally neat about cabling. Especially since I invested alot of hard earned cash on the backside of my units, I wanted that part to look neat neat neat. I was planning to make a video of my new set up with treatments and the new speaks. An old client works for Canon got me a new Canon DVDCam....well, getting dvd files up on the internet is a royal pain in the butt, so I sold it on Ebay and bought a regular tape digi camcorder. Which eats tapes! Seller wouldn't refund, I left him neg feedback, cam is at Canon for est. on repairs! Sheesh. So, I just made a little vid with my digital camera of the current rig with the new Canton Karat L800DC's and my homemade roomtreatments which I didn't mention in the video but they are visible in the background. The Canton's are the finest speakers I have ever owned. Certainly the closest I have had to "Hi-Fi". They went up two notches on all fronts from the Mordaunt Short 500 series I had previously. Imaging, soundstage, clarity, oomph with detail, and the ability to point out bad recodings. The fit and finish is perfect. The binding posts are rock solid. I found the biamp really helped the low end........much more so than the powered speakers I had previously where the biamping was going to the midrange and tweeter......here I have 350w into 4ohms going directly to the 12 inch woofer and it sounds wonderful. My thoughts are mostly on music......I haven't watched any reference movies with them in place.....just regular movies with dialog not thunderous stuff, (Kong, Captain/Commander). Female vocals, which are my weakspot, are perfectly clear and present in the room. Thanks for caring, Seth! Accessories 4 Less has a pair or two left at $2k delivered I felt I got amazing value.......I think they are like a 2005 model. On a delivery note, a neighbor signed for them and when I got home saw one box had the bottom blown out and clear packing tape holding it together! Luckily, the speaker was undamaged, but if I ordered another pair I would pay to have them double boxed. These speakers weigh 94 pounds. The silver lacquer is hot hot hot and looks great in my rig! Wish I could buckle down and get a job so I can work on building a more respectable system. I figure I will go through the rest of the vids and see what else you have going on there.
